Deconstructionism

I’ve been enticed by other Quirk Classics, but Android Karenina was the first one to grab me in a vise-like death grip! As a student of Russian literature I have read the original, and I must say that this loses the sense of Tolstoy. That could be a bi-product of the mash-up or of the translation. This is not a hack job, however. It is a well-constructed conceit by Ben H. Winters, not merely a mass-produced clunker rolled off the assembly line while the iron is hot. Androids, Honored Guests, and UnConSciya all make fine steampunk additions to the story. It was an eccentric Father’s Day present and an enjoyable summer read.
